Meet the Staff

Tracie Davis - Owner/Instructor

Miss Tracie has been dancing since she was 2 years old. She is originally from Dallas, TX and is an alumni of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Stephens College in Columbia, MO in 1999. Tracie has danced professionally here in Kansas City with aha! dance theatre for 5 years and just finished her first season with City in Motion where she is a full time company member. Miss Tracie’s technical training has a wide variety of disciplines including ballet, pointe , modern -with an emphasis in Limon, Graham, and Cunningham techniques, tap, jazz, hip hop, African, flamenco, Irish Step, and musical theatre. Under the name Step-In-Time, she has taught and choreographed here at the Academy for 7 years. She has also choreographed musicals for Ruskin High School and Grandview High School. Mother, wife, dancer, teacher, choreographer and now studio owner, are all the things Tracie has ever wanted to be. Her newest goal is to make Academy Dance a special place in her students’ hearts as a place to learn, grow and appreciate themselves through the art of dance.

Amanda January - Instructor

Amanda January trained at Leigh's School of Dance, American Dance Center, and finished her professional training earning a BFA in Dance from UMKC. She has participated in summer workshops with Alvin Ailey and Mark Morris and has been a full time company member of 940 Dance Company and City in Motion. Amanda has been teaching dance for over 7 years. She has taught at Leigh's School of Dance, Starbright, Lawrence Arts Center, Ibsen Dance Theatre, and City in Motion. Her strengths are in her techinical ballet training and her love of modern dance. She is excited to be a full time teacher here at the Academy in such a wonderful creative environment.

Sarah Snow - Instructor

Miss Sarah has been dancing at the Academy since she was 3 years old. She was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, but is currently attending the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. Miss Sarah is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, but has a passion for children and plans on working in pediatrics. For the past 16 years she was trained in tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, contemporary, lyrical, modern, and was the captain of Expression dance troupe for 8 years. She has taught her own class for a year and a half but assistant taught for 2 years before that. Miss Sarah cannot wait to pass on the experience, joy, and love that she has received from growing up at the Academy herself.
